Nikki Barnett is a dedicated social work professional with both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. With nearly a decade of direct experience in the field, she is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) known for her commitment to holistic student support and crisis management.
Nikki began her career at Texas A&M University-Commerce by establishing the inaugural case manager position. Over the years, she has been instrumental in transforming this role into what is now The Office of Student Advocacy and Support. Under her leadership, the office has grown from a single position to a comprehensive support system comprising multiple vital services, including:
- Student Case Management
- The Lion Food Pantry
- Victim Support Services
- The Lion Wardrobe
- Foster Care and Pregnancy and Parenting Liaison Services
- Student Legal Services
- A Student Ombudsman
Currently serving as the Director of Student Advocacy and Support, Nikki leads a dedicated team of four full-time staff members, a graduate assistant, graduate and undergraduate interns, student workers, and volunteers. Additionally, she holds the position of Case Manager for the Behavior Intervention Team and is a member of the Critical Incident Response Team, where she brings her extensive experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and crisis intervention to the forefront.
