The SIVRA tool is a valuable tool that Behavioral Intervention Team members and clinical staff use to conduct comprehensive and evidence-based violence risk assessment. It ensures consistency and completeness when assessing individuals who may pose a risk to others.
Originally developed in 2012, SIVRA was updated in 2024 with an enhanced version featuring a refined assessment system focused on 21 risk factors related to violence. A fundamental change in the field is the move from a binary or quantitative view of risk to a more nuanced understanding that requires a comprehensive evaluation of various factors. Our refined risk factors and intervention-driven assessment outcomes reflect this nuance. NABITA consultants both teach the SIVRA tool and perform it for our clients.
