BIT Program and Case Management Review Options

NABITA offers two options to engage our experts in a BIT or case management program review. Our comprehensive, NABITA-led program review allows you to sit back and reap the rewards of our consultants managing the entire process. Alternatively, the NABITA-Facilitated Program Review offers a cost-effective solution where our experts work alongside you and a cohort of your professional peers facing similar challenges.

NABITA-led Program Review

A neutral third-party NABITA consultant will conduct the BIT or case management NABITA-led program review. As trained consultants in behavioral intervention, case management, and threat assessment, consultants can efficiently gather data, analyze it using the Standards Assessment tool, and create a comprehensive report.

Benefits of a NABITA-led program review include interviewees being more open with external assessors, who are less likely to let bias affect their conclusions. Additionally, in a NABITA-led program review, the NABITA experts will analyze all data collected, assess it according to the NABITA standards, and produce a thorough program review report.

  • A BIT Program Review Includes:
  • Interviews with key BIT or CARE team stakeholders.
  • Review of existing BIT or CARE team policies or procedures.
  • Review of BIT or CARE team website and other marketing materials.
  • Analysis of interview and material content to assess the team’s functioning against the NABITA Standards for Behavioral Intervention Teams.
  • Presentation of the findings to the team and other key stakeholders.
  • Recommendations for improving team functioning and alignment with the standards.
  • A Case Management Program Review Includes:
  • Interviews with case manager(s) and relevant stakeholders.
  • Review of case management website or other marketing materials.
  • Analysis of interview and material content to assess the case management services against the NABITA Standards for Case Management.
  • Presentation of the findings to the case manager(s) and other key stakeholders.
  • Recommendations for improving case management services and alignment with the standards.

NABITA’s Standards for BITs

The NABITA Standards for Behavioral Intervention Teams (BIT) are rooted in academic research, clinical studies, law enforcement reports, governmental investigations, and institutional best practices. These standards offer proactive guidance to BITs, equipping them with practical strategies for preventing harm and promoting safety on college campuses. The standards are organized into three key components: structural elements, process elements, and quality assurance and assessment. Download the two-page handout version of the BIT Standards for a concise overview.

Standards Assessment Tool

The NABITA Industry Standards for BITs Assessment Tool can assess a BIT’s functioning across all 21 Standards using the Standards Assessment Tool scoring matrix. The tool highlights successes and identifies opportunities for improvement. Each standard has a suggested list of materials to assist in gathering evidence for an assessment.
