With the end of the year upon us, Congress has reconvened for its ‘lame duck’ session to try and pass as many bills as possible between now and when its current mandate expires in the early new year. Once the new Congress is officially sworn in, all unapproved legislation essentially resets and must be reintroduced. That is why NABITA is urging all our members to reach out to their home state Senate offices and request that the Senate bring the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act of 2022 (HR 7666) to the floor for a final vote. Access NABITA’s legislator lookup tool to help locate your Senator’s information here.
As you might recall, in June the House passed HR 7666 which the BIG Act text included as an amendment in a major bipartisan mental health bill. Once approved by the Senate, it is highly likely the President will sign the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act into law, and consequently the BIG Act language would go into effect!
