Event Policies
These policies apply to all individuals and groups registering for NABITA events, training, and certifications, including both in-person and virtual settings. All NABITA event registrants recognize that NABITA is not providing legal advice or acting in the capacity of legal counsel, and that registrants should consult their own legal counsel before relying or acting upon any advice or suggestions made by NABITA’s employees, consultants, or representatives. While NABITA training may include compliance elements, NABITA offers no warranties or guarantees as to content and accepts no liability for how the content is interpreted or implemented by registrants. NABITA’s Statement of Ethics can be found here, and all event attendees are required to abide by it. If NABITA, at its sole discretion, determines that a registrant or attendee is in violation of said statement of ethics and/or this policy, NABITA’s Policy and Procedures for Resolution will apply.
Payment
If paying for an event by cheque, registration cannot be confirmed, and NABITA reserves the right to deny service until such time that a purchase order or payment is received by NABITA. NABITA will reserve a seat upon registration but has the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel said registration if payment is not made or a purchase order is not submitted through your NABITA account within 15 days of the event.
Refunds for duplicate transactions will be returned within four weeks of NABITA’s receipt of the refund request. Such refunds will be furnished either via cheque or the original payment method at NABITA’s discretion.
NABITA typically offers pricing timelines, inclusive of member and non-member options. “Early Bird” pricing is typically available until 10 weeks before an event start date. Regular pricing is typically available from the end of Early Bird pricing until 2 weeks before the event start date. “Last Chance” pricing is typically available during the earlier of the final 2 weeks leading up to the start date or until registration closes. Please check the details for the event in which you are interested for specific timelines. Registering for an event secures your price at that current point in the timeline. NABITA may, upon request, issue a formal price quote, such quotes are issued at the active rate at the time of request and are typically valid for two weeks. NABITA reserves the right to make exceptions to this policy.
Registration for Members
To register an individual attendee at Member Rates, the anticipated attendee must have an active NABITA Individual Membership, or the organization must have an active Institutional Membership, Super Membership, or K-12 Professional Development Package. Rate of registration is based on your membership status at the time of registration.
Super Members and K-12 Professional Development Package holders should use the training inclusion code provided to you upon activation of your membership. If you are unable to locate your specific code, please contact us here. If intending to use a Super Member or K-12 Professional Development Package holder inclusion to pay for registration, do not register directly on the website without a training inclusion code.
Please note that NABITA reserves the right to apply Super Member and K-12 Professional Development Package holder inclusions to outstanding invoices more than 60 days past due.
Group Registrations
Group registrations can be managed through your NABITA account. Each event attendee must be registered through NABITA and, for virtual events, through Zoom. Attendees who are not registered will be removed from the training until registration is complete and payment is confirmed. Attending a virtual training in a group from one location is not allowed. Certifications will only be provided to attendees whose participation can be verified for all days of training.
Group discounts are provided on a sliding scale based on group size and applicable on registrations for the same training or event. Please contact events@NABITA.org with questions.
- 1st registration – full price of registration
- 2-4 registrations – 15% discount per line item
- 5+ registrations – 25% discounted per line item
Please create your order, click the ‘Pay Later’ option upon checkout, and reach out to events@NABITA.org for the discounts to be applied.
External Discounts
Please note that external discounts cannot be combined with existing NABITA member and group registration discounts.
Virtual Event Credit
NABITA understands that circumstances change, and events may arise that prohibit your ability to attend a training after you have registered. Our virtual event policy is outlined below:
- Transfer to a later session – If you are unable to attend all or part of your training course, you will be provided with the option to transfer to the same training course at a later date. No refunds will be provided. You must notify us at least three business days prior to the event in order to transfer the registration. We will work with you to find a mutually agreeable training course and date. If a mutually agreeable training course is not scheduled at that time, you will receive a credit for the registration amount paid, less the lesser of a 15% or $99 processing fee. Credits are valid for one year* from the original registration.
- Cancel for credit: If you cancel your registration less than 2 weeks prior to event start date, the lesser of a 15% or $99 processing fee will be charged. NABITA account credit will be valid for one year* from the original registration.
- Exceptions due to unavoidable hardship are made at the discretion of the Executive Director and requests can be sent to events@NABITA.org
In-Person Hotel Event Credits
NABITA understands that circumstances change, and events may arise that prohibit your ability to attend a training after you have registered. Our cancellation policy is outlined below:

- Registration cancellation more than 1-3 months prior to event start date = 75% credit for up to 1 year
- Registration cancellation more than 2 weeks-1 month prior to event start date = 50% credit for up to 1 year

Registration cancellation forfeits all supplemental materials, and any other promotion or membership materials.
Registration credits are not available for weather or travel-related delays or cancellations.
Credits expire one year from the date of credit and can be applied toward registration for an upcoming training, membership purchase or renewal, or other purchases through NABITA.

Substitutions
If the originally registered attendee can no longer attend the training, NABITA will allow another individual from their organization to attend in their place. If you do not wish to send someone in your place, you may apply a credit in full toward the cost of a future event, membership purchase or renewal, or other purchase with NABITA.
Recordings
NABITA reserves the right to record our virtual training and events. Recordings will be used for internal purposes only and not made available to attendees for sale or review unless otherwise approved by NABITA. If a training or event is being recorded, all attendees will be made aware when accessing Zoom. Additionally, recording sessions through any external applications or personal devices is not permitted unless explicit permission has been given by faculty.
Accommodations
NABITA is committed to ensuring that all our trainings are accessible. Captions are automatic on our virtual courses, webinars, and on-demand recordings. If further interpretation services are needed, please contact events@NABITA.org to discuss additional options. Such requests should be made at least 30 days prior to an event. While NABITA strives to meet the accessibility needs of all attendees, we cannot guarantee that every accommodation request can be fulfilled.
Non-Solicitation Policy
NABITA maintains a no-solicitation policy covering all of its conferences and trainings. In order to provide a distraction-free environment for our members and attendees, we do not allow solicitation outside of approved sponsors and exhibitors. This includes, but is not limited to, asking for business, distributing for-profit materials, or soliciting services. Any person and/or organization found to be violating this policy may be warned, removed, banned, or otherwise restricted by NABITA for failing to comply, and may forfeit registration fees, accordingly. Egregious and/or multiple violations of this policy may result in disqualification from future events.
