Thanks to all the hard work of the NABITA membership, we are proud to announce that as of Wednesday, May 12th, the BIG Act passed the House of Representatives with substantial bipartisan support.
May is Congressional Mental Health Awareness Month, and in concert with that designation, each year Congress dedicates its time to reviewing vital mental health-related legislation. This year Congress has chosen several important bills to highlight including H.R. 2877, otherwise known as the BIG Act.
As you may be aware, NABITA has been on the frontlines in Congress, championing the passage of the BIG Act! Over the last several months, NABITA has been intimately involved in the drafting and shepherding of this important piece of legislation that requires the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop best practices for schools to establish behavioral intervention teams. The fight to pass the BIG Act now moves to the Senate. We will be in touch with more information on how you can support our efforts moving forward. Thank you for all your hard work. This is a “BIG” win for our community!
