The event was a a huge success with attendance topping 250 attendees joining in common purpose and exploration of best practices to make our college and university communities safer. Upcoming Challenges for Counseling Centers
A friend of mine recently wrote and asked what I thought the top five challenges are for college counseling centers in the next five years. She joked, “You tend to think about these things. Take out your Ouija board or crystal ball and let me know what you think.”
Well, I don’t have either of those, but I do spend a good amount of time thinking about college counseling. Part of my work with The NCHERM Group involves me traveling to college counseling centers to conduct audits and assist with those that are struggling, having conflicts with administration or find themselves understaffed, overworked and at the breaking point (for more information about these audits, you can visit here).
In response to my friend’s question, this week's Tip addresses the five challenges I think most college counseling centers will face in the next five years, if not sooner.

Newly published faculty guide aids college professors dealing with aggressive behavior in the classroom

Announcing J-BIT, a multi-disciplinary academic journal for BIT research
The National Behavioral Intervention Team Association announces the launch of its flagship, peer-reviewed academic journal, The Journal of Campus Behavioral Intervention (J-BIT). J-BIT is a multi-disciplinary journal intended to encourage academic research and scholarship regarding the function, design, operation, and assessment of campus Behavioral Intervention Teams (BITs) at two- and four-year colleges and universities.
